Awards & Scholarships
The Global Conference on Environment & Sustainability will provide a limited number of awards to participants from developing countries who qualify for an Early Career Encouragement Award or a Women in Science and Engineering Award. Participants may apply for both awards, if applicable, but not more than one will be granted. Applications for awards and questions should be directed to the Awards and Reception Committee and emailed to jboland@jhu.edu.

1. Early Career Encouragement Award
A limited number of waivers of registration fees are available for students and early-career researchers from developing countries who can offer a technical presentation consistent with the theme of the conference. These waivers will be awarded on a first come-first served basis to qualifying applicants who make a request for the award at the time of submitting an abstract.
Who is eligible to apply:
- Masters/PhD/Post-doctoral students or early career researchers (no more than five years after highest degree).
- Applicants who are studying or working in developing countries (as defined on the conference website.
- Applicants must submit an abstract for a technical presentation consistent with the theme of the conference.
Abstract:
- Submitted abstract close to the theme of the conference.
- Abstract should be within the guidelines provided by the conference.
- Abstracts will be judged on the basis of scientific quality, innovation, and significant impact and will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
Scientific quality- 40%
Innovation/novelty-30%
Significant impact- 30%
Application for award must include:
- The applicant’s short CV.
- Evidence of study or research in a developing country (copy of student or employer ID, identity card, or other evidence of residence/work in a developing country).
- If applicants wish to be considered for an award, they should not complete the conference registration process until the award is either confirmed or declined.
Processing awards:
- The award is in the form of a waiver of registration fee. Only a limited number of waivers are available and these will be awarded to the first qualifying applicants.
- Successful award applicants will be notified; at that time they can complete the conference registration with a $0.00 fee.
- Applicants whose award has been declined will be notified of the reason for that decision. At that time they should complete the conference registration with the normal fee.
2. Women in Science and Engineering Award
A limited number of waivers of registration fees are available for women engaged in research in developing countries. Applicants must be prepared to offer a technical presentation consistent with the theme of the conference. These waivers will be awarded on a first come-first served basis to qualifying applicants who make a request for the award at the time of submitting an abstract.
Who is eligible to apply:
- Only female researchers are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be studying or working in developing countries (as defined on the conference website).
- Applicants must submit an abstract for a technical presentation consistent with the theme of the conference.
Abstract:
- Submitted abstract close to the theme of the conference.
- Abstract should be within the guideline provided by the conference.
- Abstracts will be judged on the basis of scientific quality, innovation, and significant impact and will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

Application must include:

- Motivational letter within 500 words on how the theme and events of the conference is related to her research work and how the grant is expected to help her in early career research.
- If applicants wish to be considered for an award, they should not complete the conference registration process until the award is either confirmed or declined.
