Prof. Shrestha graduated with a MS and a PhD in Crop Science from Cornell University and Michigan State University, respectively. After graduation he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Guelph, Canada where his work focused on the biology and ecology of weeds in cropping systems. He worked for University of California’s Statewide IPM Program as a Weed Ecologist from 2002 to 2008. Prof. Shrestha joined the Plant Science Department at California State University, Fresno (Fresno State) in 2008 as an Associate Professor. Currently he is a Chair of Department of Viticulture & Enology and Professor of Weed Science at Fresno State. His work has focused on weed management in agricultural and non-crop areas. He has been a recipient of California Weed Science Society’s (CWSS) Award of Excellence in 2014, Fresno State Provost’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2015, Weed Science Society of America’s (WSSA) outstanding teacher award in 2016, and is a Fellow of the American Society of Agronomy (ASA). He also received the US President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2015 and 2017.
