Prof. Yeasmin is a chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. From 2012 to 2015, she had worked as a director and professor in the Institute of Biological Sciences at the same university. She received a B.Sc. (hons.) in 1986, M.Sc. in 1987, and Ph.D. in 2002 all from Rajshahi University. She also received diploma in 1995 from Tokyo Institute of Technology. Her Ph.D. research was on “Purification, characterization and structure-function analysis of Mulberry seed (Morus Sp.) Lectins” and postdoctoral research was on “Biodegradation of organic wastes”. She has received the best performance award in 1986 in Bachelor of Science and received several fellowships from Bangladesh and Japan. She is an author and co-author of more than 55 scientific papers and has guided over 50 M.Sc., Ph.D., and M.Phil. students. Her most recent publication is on “The impact of socio-economic and demographic status of children contacts with pulmonary tuberculosis”. In addition, she is the member of several editorial boards of prestigious national and international journals. She has been an invited speaker at national and international conferences in Japan, UK, India, Pakistan, Germany, Czech Republic, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Mauritius, and USA.
